Join me and millions of other bloggers from around the world in our efforts to alleviate/eliminate poverty. We are privileged even in our economic slump. The smallest effort can contribute tremendously to the TOO many who do without every day of their lives. Here we have a grand opportunity to make that difference we so often wish we could make by shedding light on a topic that remains in the shadows. Whether due to not knowing what to do or fear of the shock in the staggering numbers of those who suffer from lack, we can and should help.
There are many, many issues that we are confronted by daily. But as long as one us suffers, we all suffer. Blog Action Day is here to give us that chance we have been waiting for to be able to do something. Please take advantage of this opportunity.

This morning, August 15 2008, Blog Action Day has launched. In the next two months we hope to encourage thousands of bloggers, podcasters and videocasters to learn about poverty, and on October 15, take action. This might be through posting on the theme of poverty and educating your readers about the issues and actions they might take, it might be donating your day’s earnings – there are many ways you can get involved.
So what’s happened so far? Well in the last 48 hours the blogosphere has proven itself to be a verdant space for grassroots action. Here’s what’s happened so far:
15 of the world’s 100 most popular blogs according to Technorati.com have agreed to participate in Blog Action Day this year, including:
Elena Valenciano, a prominent member of the Spanish Parliament and spokesperson for the Human Rights Committee will be taking part in Blog Action Day.
…And this is before Blog Action Day 2008 officially launched! We’re so excited about this year and thank everyone for their support so far.
If you haven’t already, join us by committing your blog to participate in this year’s Blog Action Day!
