First things first … CONGRATULATIONS NEW YORK!!! As a born and bred NYC native I could not be more proud of the representatives who saw the future and had the courage to pass this bill. To all of those who persevered Kudos!!!
With July 4th around the corner, in the light of New York’s approval of Gay Marriage, in this month when we recognize and honor all of those who came before and stood up for equal rights (List of pre Stonewall LGBT actions) Keith Olbermann’s ‘Special Comment’ from 2008 after the election, touches the heart and soul of some key issues of great value to everyone.
Today Gay Pride is celebrated around the world. However, it is still vital that everyone remember there is still much work that needs to be done, especially here in the USA where we are lacking not only in Gay rights but also in Human rights, Environmental issues, Education, Healthcare and sadly, the list goes on…
Whatever your religious, political or socioeconomic system may be, this country was founded on the heals of a revolution that guarantees “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” as unanimously approved by the founding revolutionaries of our country. It said, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
